The Cape Verde Islands

Cape Verde Islands is a unique and memorable destination. LOCATION


Cape Verde is located in the Atlantic Ocean, about 455 km from the capewhich has the same name, on African western coast. Cape Verde's islands are all volcanic in origin so the majority is rocky and mountainous. There is an active volcano, in Fogo Island, which is the highest mountain of the country with 2829 m.

The country comprises 10 islands, of which 9 are inhabited, 9 of the 10 island are inhabitated, spatially divided into two groups:
  • By north, the Barlavento island (windward islands):
    ■From west to east: Santo Antão, São Vicente, Santa Luzia (unhabited and natural reserve), São Nicolau, Sal and Boa Vista. Barlavento has the Branco and Raso islets, between Santa Luzia and São Nicolau, Passároclose to Mindelo- São Vicente island, Rabo and Junco, by Sal´s coastline, and finally Sal Rei and Baluarte Islets next to Boa Vista.

  • By south, the Ilhas de Sotavento (leeward islands):
    ■From east to west: Maio, Santiago, Fogo and Brava. Regarding the islets there is Santa Maria in Praia- Santiago island, Grande, Rombo Baixo de Cima, Rei, Luis Carneiro and Sapado islets, located about 8 km from Brava Island, and Areia which is by Brava’s coastline. The largest islands are Santiago, in the southern part of the country, where the captial city is located (Praia), and Santo Antão in the northeast part of the country. Praia is the main population center of the archipelago, followed by Mindelo in São Vicente.

VISA


This type of visa is for all foreigners coming into Cape Verde, for tourism or business, except for citizens of countries that are part of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

The visa is valid for a period of (3) three months a period. This visa can be arranged through travel agencies by the time you make your reservation or the Cape verdean embassies / consulates abroad. in Cape Verde.

It is also possible to get visas on when arrival arriving in the country, paying 25 Euros. For further information regarding the travel document and visa application documents, please contact the diplomatic services of Cape Verde in your country, or your travel agency.

The Cape verdean Escudo is the country´s currency. It’s indexed to Euro.

The archipelago is located in the sub-sahelian region, with an arid or semi arid climate.

The average air temperature is 25 degrees per year and the temperature amplitudes are is very low. The Sun is a constant throughout the year . The weather seasons are basically two: rainy season and dry or windy season.

The rainy season goes from August to October, and to most rough island like Santo Antão, Santiago and Fogo, are the most rainy l. The dry season lasts from December to July. The ocean and the trade winds moderate the temperature.

The days 3 and 4 December are reserved for a training / specialisation of employees of the exhibiting entities in order to enable them to take full advantage of the aforementioned platform. Applicants for internships, as well as candidates for commercial agents and distributors of products at the Fair, may also benefit from the said e-Commerce training / specialisation course, which will be conducted by internationally recognised experts of merit

EVENT STRUCTURE


As an annual event, in each edition the organisation will invite a number of countries or organisations outside of ECOWAS to take part in the event, exposing their products and services. The event has the designation "THE FLAVOURS OF ECOWAS" and adopts the motto: "ECOWAS A SPACE OF OPPORTUNITIES". It integrates the following six product segments :

Second segment:This segment of the fair consists of the exhibition of light food processing equipment as well as food packaging and biotechnology;

Third segment: This segment of the fair consists of the exhibition of art and articles from ECOWAS countries for home, office and hotel decoration, including, among others, decorative pieces, fabrics, parts and accessories of traditional African garments;

Fourth segment: This segment of the fair consists of the exhibition of musical instruments and products, CDs, DVDs, Videos, etc. As far as musical instruments are concerned, they will be fundamentally traditional and remarkable in the culture of these countries, as are the cases of ferrinho, accordion, cimboa, monochord, and jingles, among others, in the case of Cape Verde. In the case of other countries of the region, examples are talking drum, kora, kalimba, goje, ng'oma, djembê, axatse, dundun, kakaki, among others.

Fifth segment: This component of the Fair consists of the exhibition of agricultural machinery and equipment, parts and accessories.

Sixth segment: This component of the Fair consists of the exhibition of office stationery, computer consumables, educational material, and others.

During the event, at night, different traditional musical groups from the ECOWAS countries will perform giving shows in the outside of the fairgrounds. The fair will last four days (5-8 December), with the participation of five musical groups for each of the first 3 nights of the Fair (5-7 December).

In 5 December it will be a Workshop specifically related to Intra-regional Trade in ECOWAS, where experts in different fields will be invited to intervene, inter alia, on export and import procedures; taxation; quality; product certification; logistics, and legal and customs aspects. Also during 5 December, two different points in time (extended hours during the lunch period and the evening at the welcome reception) are reserved for previously scheduled business meetings.

This platform is the result of a technological partnership between ABRIMAR INNOVATION and an important Technological Player.

This multilingual platform, among other characteristics, has an online payment system, an online invoicing system, as well as a customer, supplier and socks management system. The detailed features of this platform are presented on the website www.emergys.pt. Exhibitors thus have at their disposal a powerful means of sales for their products before, during and after the event.

The days 3 and 4 December are reserved for a training / specialisation of employees of the exhibiting entities in order to enable them to take full advantage of the aforementioned platform.
